Color Correction for Preserved Flowers: Keeping Your Wedding Bouquet's True Colors Forever

Color Correction for Preserved Flowers: Keeping Your Wedding Bouquet's True Colors Forever

You spent months choosing the perfect flowers for your wedding day. Every shade, every petal was carefully selected to match your vision. But here's something most brides don't know: even with professional preservation at the bouquet's freshest, many flower types change color slightly when they dry.  White flowers can turn cream-colored, or develop yellow tints during the natural drying process. Red flowers dry burgundy, Pinks may dry purple and oranges can dry yellow.

The good news? At Wild Coast Flower Preservation, we've developed an expert color correction service that restores your flowers to their original wedding day beauty.  This is by no means a mandatory service, and most brides enjoy their dried bouquet as-is; however, there are some flower types that are prime candidates for our Color Correction service: Calla Lilies, White Orchids, Tropical Anthurium and Monstera leaves, to name a few.

Why Do White Blooms Change After Preservation?

Even in perfect conditions, white petals can naturally dry into cream, ivory, or blush tones.
This happens because:

  • Natural oxidation & oils: Flowers contain pigments that can shift during the drying process.  Some flowers, like garden roses, are naturally oily and when they dry, the oils yellow.

  • Moisture loss: As flowers dry, their cellular structure changes, affecting how light passes through petals

  • Resin effects: Thin blooms like orchids, anthurium, peony and calla lilies may become translucent when encased in resin, letting shadows show through and softening their detail

  • Pre-existing damage: Flowers that arrived with browned edges or yellowing will preserve those imperfections

This is completely natural and happens even with the most careful preservation techniques. That's exactly why we offer our specialized color correction service.

White Blooms in Resin: Natural vs. Color Corrected

The difference is remarkable. When white flowers are preserved naturally in resin, they often take on a soft, aged appearance – think vintage ivory or champagne tones. While beautiful in their own right, this may not match the crisp white blooms you carried down the aisle.

Our color correction service restores:

  • Brightness and vibrancy

  • Depth and dimension

  • Crisp white tones

  • The fresh, luminous look from your wedding day

The result? A keepsake that truly captures the moment you remember, bringing back that fresh, luminous appearance that made your bouquet so special.

How Color Correction Helps Your Preserved Flowers

Our expert color correction service goes beyond simple touch-ups. We use specialized resin-safe floral paints to:

  • Restore brightness, depth, and crisp whites to flowers that have naturally shifted in tone

  • Minimize translucency in delicate blooms like orchids and calla lilies

  • Bring back the fresh, luminous look you remember from your wedding day

  • Create a keepsake that stands the test of time with colors that remain vibrant for generations

Which Flowers Benefit Most from Color Correction?

While any flower can benefit from color correction, certain blooms are particularly prone to color changes during preservation. We especially recommend this service for:

White Flowers:

  • White orchids (often become translucent)

  • White calla lilies (prone to yellowing)

  • White lisianthus

  • White hydrangea (prone to spotting)

  • White roses

Light & Delicate Colors:

  • Light pink peonies (can turn translucent)

  • Light pink roses (may fade to white)

  • Blush-toned flowers

Bold Colors That Fade:

  • Orange roses (often dry with yellow tints)

  • Pink flowers (may fade to light pink or white)

  • Red ginger

  • Anthurium in all colors

When Should You Add Color Correction?

Important: We strongly recommend adding this service during the design approval stage – before your flowers are cast in resin. Here's why:

  • Once flowers are encased in resin, color correction becomes significantly more challenging

  • Early intervention produces the best, most natural-looking results

  • You'll have the opportunity to review and approve colors before final casting

  • Planning ahead ensures your timeline isn't disrupted

This is especially crucial for white flowers and calla lilies, which are most susceptible to color changes.

Our Color Correction Process

We've perfected a meticulous process that ensures your flowers look exactly as you remember them:

Step 1: Photo Submission

Send us clear photos of your original bouquet showing the true colors from your wedding day. The more reference photos, the better we can match!

Step 2: Expert Color Matching

Our skilled artisans use specialized resin-safe floral paints to carefully hand-paint each petal, matching your original bouquet colors.

Step 3: Review & Revisions

You'll receive photos of the color-corrected flowers for approval. We include up to 2 revision rounds to ensure you're completely satisfied.

Step 4: Final Preservation

Once approved, your beautifully restored flowers are carefully encased in our UV-resistant, food-safe epoxy resin.

What to Expect: Timeline & Results

Processing Time: Color correction adds an additional 2 weeks to 1 month to your preservation timeline. This extra time ensures meticulous attention to detail and allows for revision rounds.

Revision Policy: We include up to 2 revision rounds with your color correction service. In total, we can attempt color correction up to 4 times to achieve your desired results.

Important Considerations:

  • Results may vary based on the original condition of your flowers

  • Flowers that arrived damaged or heavily browned may have limitations

  • Natural variations in flower structure affect how color correction appears

  • The service fee is non-refundable once color correction work begins

Real Bride Experiences

Many of our brides initially worry about color changes, but after seeing their color-corrected pieces, they're thrilled with the results:

Veronika Dash had an all-white bouquet carried home from a Croatia wedding. She really loved our flower candle spheres as gifts.  We color corrected the white orchids for an extra vibrant final product.  Without color correction, the orchids would be yellow and may have shown translucency in resin.

Rachel's wedding at Checa Lodge, Key Largo, was celebrated with a tropical bouquet full of beautiful white florals and tropical leaves. Color correction helped the white flowers from turning spotty in resin.

Expert Tips for Best Results

Want to get the most out of your color correction service? Here are our top recommendations:

  1. Add the service during design stage: Don't wait until after resin casting – early intervention produces the best results

  2. Provide multiple reference photos: Include photos in different lighting conditions to help us match colors accurately

  3. Communicate specific preferences: Let us know if you prefer exact matching or slight enhancements

  4. Consider natural aging: Some brides love the vintage ivory look – color correction is optional!

  5. Plan your timeline: Factor in the additional 2-4 weeks for color correction when planning your preservation

  6. Ship flowers promptly: The fresher your flowers arrive, the better the preservation and color retention

Pricing & How to Add Color Correction

Color correction is available as an add-on service to any of our preservation products. The investment varies based on the number of flowers requiring correction and the complexity of the work.

To add color correction to your order:

  1. Select your desired preservation piece (wall art, serving tray, coasters, etc.)

  2. Add the color correction service during checkout

  3. Submit your bouquet photos during the design approval stage

  4. Work with our team to achieve your perfect colors
