Air Drying

Air-Dried Bouquet

A traditional flower preservation method where flowers are hung upside down in a dry, dark, well-ventilated space for 2-4 weeks. Moisture evaporates naturally through air circulation. Results in brittle, faded flowers with a rustic aesthetic.

Anther

The pollen-producing part of a flower's stamen (male organ), which can shed fine dust into the preservation medium if not treated or removed.

Book Block

A resin block shaped like a book or designed to serve as a decorative bookend, featuring preserved flowers embedded inside.

Bouquet Block

A clear resin cube or rectangular block with a preserved bouquet or flowers fully encapsulated inside, creating a 3D display piece.

Bouquet Pickup

The service or process of collecting a wedding bouquet directly from the bride, venue, or designated location rather than having it shipped.

Bouquet Preservation

The broad category encompassing all methods of preserving wedding or special event bouquets for long-term keeping. Includes pressing, air-drying, freeze-drying, silica gel drying, resin encapsulation, and other techniques.

Bouquet Replacement

Providing substitute flowers or a substitute bouquet when the original is completely unavailable, unsalvageable, or when specific flowers within a bouquet need to be swapped out due to damage, deterioration, or preservation failure.

Bouquet Replication

Flower sourcing and replacement service that brings your wedding flowers back to life, creating stunning keepsakes that look just like your original bouquet. The service of recreating or reproducing a wedding bouquet (or portion of it) using fresh flowers that match the original design, when the actual bouquet is unavailable, damaged, or when a customer wants an identical duplicate for preservation or other purposes.

Bouquet Transformation

Color Correction

The intensity, richness, and saturation of flower colors after preservation. Color vibrancy refers to how closely the preserved flowers match the original fresh bouquet's bold, saturated hues versus appearing faded, muted, or dulled.

Corsage

A small floral arrangement worn pinned to the clothes or on the wrist, typically by mothers and grandmothers of the couple.

Curing

The chemical process where liquid resin and hardener react, solidify, and harden into a durable solid.

Demolding

The process of carefully removing a cured resin piece from its silicone or plastic mold without damaging the surface or embedded flowers.

Desiccant

A substance (like silica gel) that absorbs moisture from its surroundings, used to dry flowers quickly while retaining their natural form and color.

Destination Bouquet

A wedding bouquet from a wedding held at a travel destination, often requiring special logistics for preservation due to distance and transportation challenges.

Dried Floral

Flowers that have been naturally or artificially dried to remove moisture, preserving them in a dehydrated state. Common methods include air-drying (hanging upside down), silica gel, or commercial drying.

Embedded Drying

The process of completely submerging a fresh flower in a desiccant to absorb moisture while keeping the flower's 3D shape intact.

Epoxy Resin

A two-part liquid plastic (resin + hardener) that forms a durable, clear solid when mixed and cured.

Floating Frame

A frame specifically designed to display preserved flowers, either pressed flat or encased in resin, as wall art.

Flower Hanging Display

A preserved flower piece designed to be mounted on a wall, typically featuring a hanging mechanism or frame.

Flower Photo Frame

A frame that displays both preserved flowers and a photograph, combining floral preservation with photo display in one piece with interchangeable photo.

Flower Preservation

The process of treating fresh flowers to maintain their appearance, color, and form for long-term display. Methods include pressing, drying (air-dry, silica gel, freeze-drying), or encasing in resin.

Flower Press Kit

Font Color

Hardener

Inclusion

Any object intentionally embedded within the resin, such as dried flowers, gold flakes, ribbon pieces, or wedding invitations.

Inlaid Items

Personal mementos or keepsakes (such as wedding invitations, vows, ribbons, lace, or charms) that are embedded into the resin alongside preserved flowers. Customization option that adds personalization and sentimental value; especially important for memorial preservation (prayer cards, photos, charms).

Keepsake

The final piece of preserved floral art, meant to serve as a lasting memory of a person or event.

Lighted Base

Microbubbles

Extremely small air bubbles that form in the resin during mixing, which must be carefully removed for a perfectly clear professional finish.

Painted Edge

A decorative technique where the rim or edge of a resin piece is hand-painted with metallic, colored, or specialty paint.

Personalization

Prepaid Shipping Label

A pre-purchased shipping label (UPS or FedEx) that customers use to send their bouquets to Wild Coast. The rate is highly discounted for the customer to send a large package of flowers via overnight mail. The box dimensions are 20x20x10. If ordered on a Friday, the label covers Saturday delivery.

Pressed Flower Preservation

The method of preserving flowers by flattening them between absorbent materials under pressure, resulting in thin (½" thick) 2D botanical specimens.

Pressed Flowers

Flowers that have been dried flat using pressure and absorbent materials, resulting in paper-thin botanical specimens.

Pressing (Flower Pressing)

The method of flattening flowers between absorbent material under pressure to remove moisture, resulting in a 2D specimen.

Resin Casting

A type of epoxy resin with low viscosity (thin consistency) and a long cure time, ideal for deep, clear pours and minimal air bubbles when encasing flowers.

Resin Curing

The chemical hardening process where mixed epoxy resin transforms from liquid to solid, typically taking 24-72 hours depending on temperature and resin type.

Resin Encapsulation

The act of fully encasing a dried object in clear epoxy resin to create a permanent, durable, and highly preserved keepsake.

A reservation deposit system rather than the traditional wedding announcement. Specifically: If a wedding is more than 3 weeks away, customers can secure their spot on Wild Coast's preservation calendar with a $50 non-refundable deposit that goes toward their final order.

Senescence

The biological process of aging and deterioration in flowers, leading to wilting and browning.

Silica Gel

A common, granular desiccant used by professionals to efficiently dry flowers while minimizing color and shape change.

Silica-Dried

Flowers that have been dried using silica gel desiccant, which absorbs moisture while maintaining the flower's 3D shape and color.

Spotting

When flowers encased in resin develop transparent or translucent spots where the flower tissue becomes see-through. This occurs in areas where the flower's cellular structure has been damaged—often microscopically—during the drying process, handling, or due to natural tissue breakdown. The damage is invisible to the naked eye before resin application but becomes apparent once the flower is encapsulated, as the resin penetrates the compromised tissue.

Sublimation

The scientific process where ice turns directly into vapor, bypassing the liquid state, which is the mechanism of freeze-drying.

The degree to which light passes through preserved flowers in resin, creating a semi-transparent or glass-like effect. Translucency varies by flower type, petal thickness, moisture content during preservation, and resin application technique. Some flowers naturally become more translucent when preserved, while others remain opaque.

Whole Flower Preservation

A preservation technique that maintains the three-dimensional form, natural shape, and color of flowers rather than flattening them. The flowers retain their original depth, texture, and structure.

Decorative items made from or featuring live edge wood, designed to be hung on walls as artistic or functional pieces.

Wood Wall Frame

A picture frame made from natural wood (often stained or finished) designed for wall display of preserved flowers or photos in epoxy resin.
