How to Care for Your Preserved Flower Art (and Make It Last for Years)

This blog shares simple, essential tips for caring for your preserved flower art—from avoiding sunlight to gentle cleaning—so your keepsake stays beautiful for years. Learn how to protect your memories and enjoy your custom piece for generations to come.

So, you’ve received your custom flower preservation piece—congratulations! 🎉 Whether it’s a wedding bouquet, memorial arrangement, or a special event’s blooms, your piece is more than just art—it’s a memory you want to last forever. Here’s how to make sure it does!

Why Proper Care Matters

Preserved flowers are delicate, and while our UV-resistant, food-safe resin gives them a powerful shield, a little attention goes a long way in keeping your keepsake beautiful for years. It’s important to remember that both resin and natural flowers will gradually change over time—resin may slowly develop a slight yellow tint, and flowers can fade or shift in color. These care tips are designed to help you stave off those changes as long as possible and enjoy your art for years to come!

1. Keep Out of Direct Sunlight ☀️

Even the highest-quality resin can develop a yellow tint when exposed to direct sunlight or intense heat for long periods. Choose a shaded spot away from windows, especially in sunny climates. This simple step helps preserve both the clarity of the resin and the vibrancy of your flowers.

2. Avoid Extreme Temperatures 🔥

Steer clear of placing your keepsake in hot areas—think cars, attics, or rooms without AC. Extreme heat can accelerate color changes and make flowers more brittle. If you live in a warm climate, air conditioning is your best friend!

3. Handle With Care 💎

While resin is durable, the exterior surface of the resin can scratch.  Treat your piece like a work of art: avoid sliding the pieces on surfaces, dropping, bumping, or stacking heavy objects on top. When moving, use both hands to support larger pieces.

4. Gentle Cleaning Only 🧽

Dust your keepsake with a soft, dry cloth.  Household glass cleaners are safe to use lightly for disinfecting.  Avoid submerging in water and the dishwasher.  Dry the handle area well.

5. Follow Our Care Instructions 📋

Every Wild Coast order comes with detailed care instructions. If you ever misplace them, just reach out—we’re always here to help!

6. Store Thoughtfully 🌹

When putting your preservation pieces away in storage, wrap each piece individually to avoid bumping and scratching. Store in a cool room and avoid hot storage.
